The Flint RiverQuarium is part of an urban renewal project. The location where these trees were planted is an old building site. The building was torn down and these trees were planted on the old foundation. During the first treatment, the ground was so compacted that Chuck Norvel, the local Georgia Forestry Commission agent had to drill holes so we could get the injection probe in the soil. When we made the second treatment in September, there was a noticeable different in the looseness of the soil. We could easily push the injection probe into the soil in a normal fashion. We also saw evidence that the trees were already responding to the treatments.
